MotoGPNews’ 2018 ‘rider of the year’ Bradley Smith has found himself in hot water after snubbing a scheduled event to ride in kid’s Motorcross race.
Bradley, bald, had been scheduled to race a Moto2 bike as a wildcard at Snetterton last weekend for the Spirit Motorcycles after the team secured his services with the required £3.50 retainer. Smith had tested with the team on the Tuesday with all parties agreeing his performance was impressively mediocre. However on the Thursday before the race weekend the ex-MotoGP rider pulled out of the event claiming it was for ‘personal’ reasons.
The Spirit Motorcycles team were understandably upset but understood that ‘personal’ reasons could not be helped – maybe believing that Bradders was having issues with the small Romanian family who rent out his trophy cabinet as their first UK home.
However after the weekend Spirit Motorcycles subsequently learnt that Bradders had instead decided to ditch them in order to enter a Motorcross event. It’s believed that after reviewing his career the organisers of the Motorcross event seeded him in the under-12 category where he immediately stood out as his voice was higher and squeakier than the other riders. Once spotted word of his skulduggery was sent back to the Spirit Team where they issued this critical press release:
