Jack Miller By The Numbers

It’s time for Jackass Miller’s home GP at Phillip Island, the greatest MotoGP circuit of all. Let’s check out a few numerical facts about Jack.

2

The points gap between Jack and the title winner Alex Marquez in the 2014 Moto3 series. For some insane reason, Honda took this as a signal to promote the Aussie directly to MotoGP.

3

A trio of riders were taken out by Jack at the Thailand MotoGP race a few weeks ago, resulting in no penalty whatsoever. This infuriated his old rival Alex Marquez, who was penalized with a long lap penalty for ramming just one person in Japan. And that one person was Joan Mir, who was 99% certain to crash by the end of the lap anyway.

4

The number of the corner at Phillip Island which is now named after Jack Miller, and also the corner where he was torpedoed the other year by… wait a minute… Alex Marquez??? What is it with these two guys?

5

Five years separated Jack’s first and second MotoGP wins: Assen 2016 and Jerez 2021. A tad longer than the gap between Marc Marquez’s first two wins, but hey, who’s counting?

6

The number of wins that Jack took in his final year of Moto3 racing. He had to move up as he had run out of fingers on one hand to count his wins on, and this was confusing the hell out of him.

10

How many pole positions Jack has achieved over his Grand Prix career: 8 of those in Moto3 and 2 in MotoGP. It was 2019 before Jack realized that he could count this high simply by using the fingers on both hands.

15

Jack’s age when he abandoned the world of education. To be fair, this pretty much makes him an Emeritus Professor in the MotoGP paddock, and also means that he’s grossly overqualified to be an Australian police officer.

29

Jack’s current age, which should be the age at which he heads to World Superbike but for some reason is the age at which he was hired by Pramac Yamaha MotoGP, who are totally cool with this and were in no way threatened by Dorna with any kind of sanctions if they didn’t hire him.

43

The race number that Jack uses. He is perfectly capable of counting up to both of those digits individually.

173

His height in centimetres, which figures out to about 5 foot 8. A towering presence in the MotoGP paddock, it has to be said.

190,000

Number of Twitter followers that Jack has. If all of them take a drink when he falls off, they’ll have collectively consumed almost as much alcohol as the average MotoGPNews contributor does during a MotoGP race.
