If you ever go and see a band usually the support act is rubbish. A seemingly endless set of near-identical songs that you don’t know or care about mixed poorly live by a sound guy who doesn’t know or care about them either. Wisely many folk just turn up to see the main band.
Moto3, however, isn’t a support act. If Moto3 was a band there would be hundreds of crazy tiny teenagers frantically running around the stage often tripping over the amps and knocking over a load more of each other. It would be so frantic and stressful to watch that half of you would love it and the other half would want it to finish.
Then, when finished and you’d finally caught your breath and your blood pressure returned to a none-critical level, the main act would come on. And to your horror you’d then realise you’re somehow at a Coldplay gig lead by a load of boring Ducatis.
What’s this?
The list above shows the average winning margin in motorsport for the 2023 season which in Moto3’s case was just 0.694 seconds. That’s less time than it takes Uccio to eat a couple of delicious pastries.
Meanwhile Formula One is shit. It always has been. But it’s getting worse…which seems borderline impossible given the last decade subjected upon its beleaguered fans. The average winning margin in F1 was, amusingly, over 10 seconds – that’s longer than it takes Uccio to hide behind a locally delivered skip when he sees a salad bar.
It’s conclusive proof that Moto3 is awesome and Formula One is terrible.
Wait, what about MotoE?
Interestingly MotoE is officially ranked the closest motorcycle sport. We’re not sure why this is because we, like everyone else, haven’t ever watched it. However if we were to make an educated guess it would be because each race only lasts four laps before the batteries need another 24 hours to charge.
Conclusion
If you’re a MotoGP fan then don’t skip Moto3. If you’re an F1 fan then skip the next decade.
Other notable mentions
WSSP 300
WSSP 300 finished as the second closest motorcycle sport and third overall. WSSP 300 is very similar to Moto3 – a load of crazy teens riding like it’s their last race…which often it is given the less-than-ideal circuits.
MotoGP
Our premier sport finished a respectable, but hardly impressive, 19th. And this only tells half the tale given that the distance to the winning Ducati to the next manufacture would probably often embarrass an F1 fan.
Red bull Rookies Cup
The feeder-feeder series finished a surprisingly unimpressive 26th – technically in the lower half of the table. Given the number of crazy teens (who have access to endless amounts of energy drinks) in a one-make series we’d have expected better.
