Enea Bastianini was one of the stand-out MotoGP riders in 2021.  Even the lackadaisical Spanish fans were impressed with his ‘I’m only working for one day’ attitude on race weekends.

Thankfully for Enea when he did turn up for work on Sunday he was more often than not seen storming through field on his decrepit bike leaving every commentator spouting “if only he’d have qualified better…”

Sadly though as good as Bastianini was on track he was terrible in the ‘famous brother’ department and was overlooked for Luca Marini by an impartial Valentino Rossi for his new team.  This could have potentially left Enea being an exceptionally fast rider sat at home – like Iannone but without the drug or facial reconstruction addictions.

Luckily for ‘The Beast’ Gresini Racing snapped up the Italian and offered him a 2021 Ducati – a substantial step up from the heap of Ducati he rode last year that was mainly made up from parts stolen from Scott Smart’s garage.

So how will Bastianini fair on the newer spec bike?  We decided to find out using technology!  By feeding Ducati’s 2021 complex power credentials into our BBC Model B computer along with Bastianini’s previous results, weight, height and haircut dimensions we predicted we could predict his results to within a Bradley hairline.

But then we got bored so instead decided we’d base everything on how good his bike looks.

The 2022 Gresini Ducati livery has been designed by designer Aldo Drudi – the Italian who is famous for drawing camp cartoon pictures for Valentino Rossi for the last 40 years or whatever.  But this design divides opinion – like pineapple on pizza or if James Toseland was born female.

Some love the fact it uses as shade of blue that doesn’t look like over half the grid. Others argue, however, that it looks like a Gulf livery paint scheme when bought from Wish.com

But what do you think?
