The nights are drawing in, Strictly’s back on and the MotoGP championship is coming to an end. As Quartarararo races towards the finish line Dorna are desperately trying to keep the championship alive as the last race showed us. Here’s Arjen’s recap:
So, with covid passports ready, MotoGP moves to the colonies for the Americas GP at the Circuit of the Americas – a sentence that contains far too many unnecessary plurals.
What’s not to love about the American GP in Austin? A heavy-set well-fed crowd enthusiastically waving their hotdogs in the air to a rousing performance of the Start Spangled Banner sung by someone they know but we probably don’t. Then after all that excitement it’s a quick nap before watching the final few laps of the race wondering where all the Nascars have gone.
We may love Austin – but Marc Marquez really, really loves it!
Because every motorsport star in the USA started out on dirt oval racing of some description it’s written into the constitution that all none-oval tracks (* also known as ‘foreign style tracks’) must run in an anti-clockwise direction. Some of the greatest circuits on the planet also run the wrong direction like Kyalami and Oliver’s Mount.
So what? Well Marc’s riding style, along with his monged shoulder, really suit anti-clockwise circuits. Indeed his two best results have both come on tracks that go the wrong way round.
Will Marc the anti-Christ win? He has a very good record at COTA so he’ll be in the mix.
Also in the mix will be Quartararararo as he battle against the team-Ducati riders.
Sadly one rider who’ll not be in the mix this weekend is Maverick Vinales after the tragic loss of his 15-year-old cousin Dean Berta Vinales in a race last weekend. Obviously we, like everyone, offer our sincere condolences to Dean’s family and friends.
