Maverick Vinales’ ‘season to remember’ has just become even more memorable for the Spaniard as Yamaha have given him the ‘boot up the bracket’ for not reading the messages on his dashboard.
During the Styrofoam GP last weekend Vinales’ dashboard repeated displayed the ‘pitlane’ message informing him that he needed to return to the pits and stop dicking around at the back. The message is often displayed when the team believe the engine is about to explode so it’s best not to ignore it. But despite the messages it wasn’t until lap 27 that the bi-polar star eventually pulled into the pits by which time he was lapping six seconds slower than before – that’s roughly the same speed the slightly overweight Crutchlow was managing.
Bizarrely rumours then started to circulate immediately after the race that Maverick was deliberately revving his bike to the limiter on the main straight – possibly out of frustration or to showboat to a chick he’d seen in the grandstand who looked like his mother.
Either way the top noodles at Yamaha were furious after the event and conducted an ‘in-depth analysis of telemetry and data’ along with an open WhatsApp forum allowing their staff to contribute reasons they hate the Spaniard.
‘Yamaha‘s conclusion is that the rider‘s actions could have potentially caused significant damage to the engine of his YZR-M1 bike which could have caused serious risks to the rider himself and possibly posed a danger to all other riders in the MotoGP race.’
It’s suggested that Yamaha officials were less concerned about Vinales’ safety and more with ‘saving some bits’ for eBay.
For his actions currently Maverick has just been suspended from this weekend’s race in Austria. However it’s believed that Yamaha were looking for an excuse to get rid of him and potentially promote Franco Morbidelli onto his vacant bike.
On hearing the news it’s widely belived that Bradley Smith has resubmitted his CV to Yamaha and will be turning up in his race-suit to every event just in case.
Morbidelli making ‘unbelievable’ recovery
Meanwhile in totally unrelated news it seems that the angry Italian Franco Morbidelli is said to have started to make an astonishingly quick recovery from his knee injury upon hearing the news that Vinales’ bike maybe free.
Franco injured his knee at the VR46 Neverland ranch* – an injury that became far worse once he decided that it wasn’t fair that he didn’t have the best spec Yamaha. Since then Morbidelli’s been phoning in sick every race weekend claiming he’s still not ready to return.
Coincidentally though, as news of Vinales’ fate came to light, the Italian’s injury mysteriously seemed to improve.
“It’s crazy!” explained a close pal “One minute Franco’s moping around like his only browser was Internet Explorer the next he running around grinning madly like a tornado in a trailer park.”
